This Saturday and Sunday I will be showcasing 23 paintings and 23 looks from the KidSuper SS23 collection at the Black Wall Street Gallery. KidSuper Story time: About four years ago I was walking down the street with my mom in NYC when @riccowright03 (the founder of BWS Gallery) stopped me and said “cool pants.” My mom instantly said “he made them, my son made them!” We started talking about KidSuper and what he was doing. He had just moved up to NYC and was looking for a space to open up a gallery. I at the time had been given a space by Wallplay (a company that was taking empty storefronts on Canal St. and giving them discounted to artist) and thought he would be the perfect person for a space. I introduced them and didn’t know what would happen. A couple weeks later there it was he had a gallery on Canal’s, my mom would always go and send me picture updates of the shows. Then fastforward he got a new space in Soho, then in Tribeca and it kept growing and growing. It was amazing to see, NYC is not an easy space to survive especially off of art sales, and Ricco kept going. Today is Black Wall Street Gallery’s anniversary and they have a beautiful 2 floor space in Chelsea that I am honored and proud to be showing at this weekend. Congrats to @bws.gallery and @riccowright03 cant wait for this weekend! Also it’s going to be so packed we are prolly more than 1000 people over capacity and we just confirmed some incredible performers haha
