In high school, I was lucky enough to hang out with Khalil Hill and his bestfriends James Sheffield #BluJemz & Shawn Regruto #Hoax Usually two but sometimes all three of them. Generally around Independence Plaza, sometimes at Blue Lights under the World Trade Center. They were sooooo cool, funny, crazy, smart and sweet- they would walk me to the Path station end of the night (they did laugh at me for being from Jersey). Khalil and I were on and off for 3 years, probably my most significant love relationship in high school, and now he has disappeared without a trace and his two best friends have died from cancer. What wild, romantic, poetic artists. To know these brilliant, beautiful guys was to love them. New York misses these men cause they really lit up the island. I feel blessed to have grown up around such bright souls in such a different epoch.
