CHEF PORTRAITS - CAROL TSANG of Green Green Trees Your Vegan Kitchen I'm not sure what I expected when I landed at GGTYVK in West Covina. It looked kinda... typical - a no-flash spot nestled in the suburban strip mall landscape. But as I've always believed, people make the place (and yes, the food/drink too). Chef Carol was so sweet, joyful, everyone's auntie - I found myself speaking to her as if she was a family friend... she immediately gave me a bottle of water and asked if I was hungry. Perfect. Yes, of course I was - I always am - but I was here to shoot her at work, so I politely declined being fed. As she was cooking everything up, she continued to extoll the virtues of a vegan lifestyle and the importance of considering ones health. I've heard many a sermon about diets, optimal times to eat/what to eat/how to eat ad nauseam... yet as she was cooking away and talking through the process, it all seemed 100% genuine. I'm really glad to have met Carol (and yes, I was forced home with LOTS of vegan treats) and shooting her realness was an absolute delight. 📸 @zagat
