This is a story of defiance, grit, teamwork, skill, family, and of course, football. Coach Adams and his amazing sons will inspire audiences to experience Deaf culture, sign language, and disability in a new way. After seven straight losing seasons—and years of being underestimated and mistreated by other teams—the Cubs won 11 consecutive victories against all hearing teams, winning the division championship and making it to the division state championship for the first time in the school’s 68-year history. This movie will feature Deaf artists and collaborators at all stages. I’m honored to have partnered with an incredible team that already includes Deaf and disabled creatives to produce an innovative film for audiences around the world: DJ Kurs @djkurs the Deaf Tony-nominated artistic director of @deafwest has produced multiple theatrical productions that feature American Sign Language and spoken English in a seamless ballet, including the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Spring Awakening. He and Coach Adams met as undergrads at @gallaudetu Eryn Brown @erynedel (google her!), a disability advocate, talent manager and producer at @management360 included in @hollywoodreporter 100 Most Powerful Women in Entertainment: “Hollywood has proven its power to change culture and policy through the stories it tells. Freddy, DJ and I believe Keith’s journey with his family and his team will do exactly that. We are honored to be partners in protecting his story and creating many cinematic firsts.” Academy Award nominee Luke Davies, who wrote one of my favorite movies - LION - and who will work in lock-step with Adams and Kurs.
