A title does not make you more or less successful, what you do with it does 👊 There is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to a successful career in the Beauty Industry. Let's not idealize one title over another because all of them can be equally as successful or equally as unsuccessful. There is a huge stigma around being a commission Stylist these days and so many seeking out going independent or suite "ownership". I totally understand why (I have always been independent), but I think it is based on a false perspective of ALL commission salons and Owners. There is also an idea that if you go independent you'll make more money than commission, which is not always the case. If you go independent into a suite or rent a booth, you may "earn" more freedom, but if you don't plan your business well you may not actually earn more money 😬 There is also another idea that being a Salon Owner means you are more successful in your beauty career, which is also not the case. Some Owners make pennies off of their business but work twice as hard, while there are Commission Stylists actually making more money with less stress 🤷🏽‍♀️ What you see on social media is also not the reality for the entire Beauty Industry. We see a lot more negative talk about being on commission because the ones that are happy are too busy being successful to be on social media all of the time 🙃 We don't see the struggle of going independent, into a suite or becoming an owner because who goes on to talk about how hard it is and how they aren't as successful as they thought they would be? Yeah we talk about how many jobs we have to do, but we don't talk about the actual cost in our business of having to do all of those things. The more work you have in your business, the less time you have to take clients, so there's always a trade-off. As always, this is not meant to deter or discourage anyone from doing any of these things, but what it is meant to do is offer perspective 🙌 If you plan and run your business well you can be successful in any situation, if you don't, it won't matter what your title is 👊 @behindthechair_com @beautylaunchpad
