Met her at Barnes & Noble's drinking coffee and reading. 📚☕️ #KeepGoing I see so many of my followers say limiting beliefs about themselves and why they feel incapable of reading more or joining a book club so here’s some affirmations to disable the beliefs you have about yourself: “I can’t read fast enough” — reading is like going to the gym, everyone starts at different levels but your ability to execute in a timely manner is a result of your consistency and discipline to show up and lift the weight. No one can do something well or quickly without repetition. Committing to the journey is what frees you to surpass your limits. “I don’t have the time” — on average reading 10 pages of a book takes 20 minutes. 10 pages a day for 30 days puts you at the end of a 300-page book. If you’re telling me that in your day you don’t have 20 minutes to invest in your mind or mental health, I’ll tell you that you don’t prioritize yourself as highly as you should. “I don’t enjoy reading” — all we do every day is go from place to place and read. E-mails, menus and social media feeds you name it. If reading is a struggle for you it might be because you’ve yet to find the right book. Maybe self-help isn’t your thing, like CSI? Try murder mysteries, enjoy RomComs, try romance novels....there’s a genre for everyone. “I always start but I never finish” — you don’t finish because you don’t give yourself a reason to. Find a community that encourages you to see it through and regurgitate the information — find people to enjoy the book with you or reward yourself for completion, triggers are important and effective so use them!
