1 year - 365 days ago I posted my first #silverhairselfie. One year ago, I impulsively searched Instagram to see if there were people like me. People tired of dyeing their hair, tired of scheduling their lives around salon visits, tired of of IT ALL.
That morning, I found the Silver Sisters, and I saw myself. Or rather, the person I wanted to become. I discovered an entire community of women who were unabashedly proud of their gray hair. Women who loved themselves just as they were. Women who lifted each other up. ๐๐ธ๐
The rest, as they say, is documented in my Instagram feed. ๐ A year of community and growth (of grays and grace for myself). ๐ค๐๐ค
To those of you who follow and support me, thank you! ๐๐ค๐ I adore following your journeys as well.
If youโre thinking about letting your silver shine, go for it IF the time is right for you! You wonโt regret it. Sure, there are days I wish I didnโt have a demarcation line, but those days are few and far between.
Instead of arranging my life around coloring appointments and feelings of insecurity at the first sign of gray roots, I am now learning to love myself more each day.
We are all perfect just as we are. The gray hair, wrinkles, and stretch marks make us uniquely our beautiful selves. Wouldnโt the world be a boring place if we all looked, dressed, and acted the same?
