When Joshua Vides and our team sat in 2020 to chart a strategic plan for how to work together, we established some real goals: a solo exhibition in Tokyo at the top of that list. So we agreed, hey—let’s start at the top of that list... Through all the difficulty of the pandemic, our teams (NYC, LA, and TYO), with the team at @sai_miyashita, worked together to not only produce a powerful solo show for Josh, but also supportive collaborations in the Tokyo Community. The idea: for Josh to pivot from what he’s been know for, and use this “Commercial Break” exhibition, to deliver his first-ever color works on canvas. With supportive collaborations from W-Taps and Kith Treats in the wings, we were able to pull off a exhibition that proved us all proud. Shout out to Sarah and Kenji from our team for knocking this out the park, to Masa and the Sai team for the hospitality, and to Josh, Aaron, and the team in California for executing the vision.
