Wondering why your mineral sunscreen is greasy at first then drying? Here’s why. - Zinc is a mineral sunscreen filter that when used at high doses does a pretty great job of broad spectrum UV protection (both UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are the rays that cause DNA damage/aging and are gnarly for cancer and UVB rays largely burn skin... again... non merci to skin cancer). - Many zinc SPFs go on THICCC but dry down throughout the day. This is because zinc is a mild astringent so it draws water from the skin. To mitigate this formulators add a lot of hydrators and oils to combat it but by the end of the day I’m a lil husk. - This is why I drown myself in hydration prior to spf application like I’m free willy being moved to the ocean. Keep me hydrated! I don’t want to dry out! - If your Zinc SPF goes on greasy... wait. See how it dries down. For me it’s always matte by end of day (where I then go on with a new lil application. For me this sunscreen is a color match (je suis casper Pantone) but if you’re more melanated I’m not comfortable saying zero whitecast because, IDK! Features of @undefinedbeauty_co SPF - 12% zinc - SPF 50 PA ++++ (this has to do with pigmentation in skin aka you don’t tan... I’ll be explaining this rating on SPF which is common in Asia) - Waterproof 40 min (I’ll be making an explain on how weird this test is and how you have about 30 caveats) - $28 it’s a pretty great price compared to some of it’s competitors (Zinc facial sunscreens can go up to $60-80 for $1.7 oz). I’m working on my explainer for how sunscreen is tested, the major limitations of how the FDA tests versus how we use sunscreen in real life and why consumer reports are helpful but not gospel so if you enjoy these *subjects* it’s coming :) @liahyoo TY for putting me on to this and Dorian this formula is 🤌 #skincare #sunscreen #beauty #skincareroutine
