Got my first AK 🥵An AK (actinic keratosis) is a precancerous spot caused by sun damage. Untreated, it can turn into a Squamous Cell Carcinoma (skin cancer). Don’t worry, I’ll treat mine 👩🏻‍⚕️ Growing up in South Texas I was always in the sun on the beach 🏄🏻‍♀️ and in the pool (outdoor & indoor). On the beach I was diligent with my sunscreen on my face, though I still suffered a few burns (it’s no fun to come in & reapply, I get it!). In the pool was a different story: it’s nearly impossible to wear face sunscreen + cap & goggles while you’re swimming for 2 hours🏊🏼‍♀️. And that was every afternoon during peak ☀️ time, from 1-3pm.
