Merry Christmas Eve! I hope that tomorrow you remember to wake up in the morning, not in search of the “perfect” holiday... but in search of a way to find the day to be perfect, whatever that looks like for you. Big Family? Fun! Small Family? Also fun (and easier to sit around a table) Blood family? Chosen Family? No family, and a day at peace? Maybe you celebrate another beautiful holiday? That’s cool too. All I’m saying is... don’t worry if it isn’t the greeting card Christmas. Put that expectation aside, and decide to just show up, be present, and be of service to whatever the situation is at hand. However you can. And when shit goes wrong (and it prob will), try and laugh about it. It makes for a better story. Don’t worry about the bullshit consumerism tied to this holiday either. If you can’t afford gifts, or didn’t have time or money, that’s ok. The people who love you don’t want things, they just want your time and presence. Make room for that. It’s a better gift than anything bought in a store. (This is also a big giant reminder of all of this to myself!!) And one final thing... A Muppet Christmas Carol is the best holiday movie. Ever.
