Anyone else reached taper week but feel like they haven't done enough to even taper? Let's chat babes. I am hyper critical of myself and gently telling myself to STFU simultaneously. Consider this an extension of your inside thoughts if you're going through a similar struggle. If you're about to do a marathon and your runs suck, had some bad weeks, questioned your sanity, feeling nervous about the time you'll be out there on the course and anything in between, you're in good company. I don't know that many people out there that can say they followed every single training run without a hiccup or even taking a day to a week off. There will be sprains, injuries, comebacks, resurrections and things outside of our control. We're about to do something incredible, bestie. I've completed 25 marathons, 6 ultra marathons including a 100K and DNFed 10 races out of 200+ events - I'm nervous every single time. Give the pavement whatever the hell you got but don't feel compelled to cram last minute miles in before your final. This exam don't work that way. Trust your body, mileage and heart. Even if you walk the entire 26.2 miles - which I'll say from experience and will be doing partially this time - it's still a marathon. Can we practice how to be kind to ourselves on race day this week? I use the word grace a lot because we need to practice it. Let's check in: How are we feeling? Good, bad, ugly and ridiculous.
