Sometimes kids think hospitals are scary. At Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, we do everything we can to prove them wrong. This week our Child Life team hosted the Butterfly Clinic—an event focused on helping children feel more comfortable about their medical care. Hospital departments hosted activities for patients to participate in medical play, which has been shown to be an effective tool in helping children be more comfortable and less anxious in the medical environment. Children use real and pretend medical equipment during these interactive experiences. The annual event went virtual during the pandemic, but organizers were thrilled to be able to host the event safely in person this year. We’re so happy to see those smiles and help kids feel good about the care that makes their lives better!
