Story time... Most people that know me well, know that I find it nearly impossible to slow down. At the end of September I had a gym session and midway through it, had my back get aggravated while doing a cable exercise. Decided to give it a bit of time to try and rest and heal, and it started to improve a little bit. I went out to rampage to film and the pain started to come back, but this time in my right glute and radiating down my leg. All nerve related pain🥺. Had to rely on anti inflammatory’s to get me through the day and when they wore off the nerve pain came back strong. Luckily I was able to push through the pain and get through the couple weeks. Which came to a screeching halt when @kylestrait took a big tumble that would see him leave in the heli. After the stress of seeing one of my best friends break his back and 2 weeks of abusing an already injured sciatic nerve, my body had enough. and the pain continued to get worse. When I got home the pain rose to its worse and my days were spent laying on the couch, on anti inflammatory’s just trying to manage the pain. I started seeing @lawrencevanlingen who helped unlock my whole tight, abused body from a full season of racing traveling and filming. Now I am finally at a point now that the nerve pain is starting to subside. This time forced me to slow my days down, spend more time in my own head, think about things, work on things I didn’t have time to do before like cooking, researching, planning, reading, and making coffee. Something about chasing the perfect cup of coffee and learning more about the flavors you can bring out of a burnt little bean has me completely hooked. Setting up a bike, breaking down a race course and making a good cup of coffee all have so many similarities, maybe that’s why I am so drawn to it. Also these @captainstoker beans have me blown away by how good a cup of coffee can be. Sometimes slowing down is a good thing, I’ll be the first to admit I suck at it. To me all things happen for a reason and you have to adapt and find the good in the bad. Just another one of life’s tests. #nobikesnolikes
