I grew up next to Santa Cruz. An ocean town where the redwoods meet the sea. One of its most famous residents is the bright yellow Banana Slug. It eats the rot, the dead, the waist and turns it into fertilizer for the forest. Breaking down the old so it can transform into the new, that’s the detritivores job. It’s an important part of the life cycle. Without it the forest won’t survive. The same feels true for us. Our outdated beliefs, systems, habits, relationships, versions of ourselves. There is no evolution without decomposition.✨ 📷: @nicolejusticephotography
