We are promoting this auspicious day to unite Newahs and bring awareness to the richness of Newah heritage within and beyond our communities. There is much to be proud of: · Newahs were the original inhabitants of Nepal Mandala, creators of the historic heritage and civilization of modern Nepal. · Newah culture is rich in language, literature, arts, architecture, music, dance, rituals, feasts, festivals, business, social and religious structures. · Newah contributions to world culture include 7 UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu Valley, the spread of Buddhism after Princess Bhrikriti's marriage to King Songtsen Gampo of Tibet, the artistic and architectural influences of Araniko, and membership in the United Nations based on the scholarship of Newah scripts. We ask that you honor World Newah Day 2023 wherever you are, with your friends and family or in your local community. Join a special event, a picnic, a walk, a talk program, an arts and crafts exhibition. Gather for samay baji, to make yomari, momos, even for a cup of tea. Post why you are proud of being Newah on social media ( #worldnewahday). On as many languages as possible.
