The on-site harvest of native plant seeds is critical for enabling Grand Teton to achieve its revegetation and restoration management goals, including the advancement of a multi-phase restoration effort to return 4,500 acres of abandoned hayfields to native sagebrush-steppe ecosystem near Mormon Row. A healthy sagebrush ecosystem is vital for the diversity and abundance of native plants and wildlife species like elk, bison, moose, pronghorn, and sage grouse that rely on them. Restoration of the Kelly hayfields to native communities and wildlife habitat is a long-term partnership priority for the Foundation, Grand Teton National Park, and many conservation-minded partners.
