This is Aurora' which means 'The light of dawn'. She is my niece, my littlest friend, intrepid #spirit and is pure medicine for this #world. Watching her grow over the years into the #girl she wants to be, wondering where her path in adulthood and #womanhood will take her. I've witnessed #women around us change the world and the way we see it. Each type of bond and connection in my own life, showing me what I and our society could be if we understood we won't get anywhere without half of the hearts,minds and souls of this planet, and in effect, of ourselves. . . Observing this little #soul, everyday discovering the 'self' and her potential, I want her to know she can have, be and do anything she wants, without questioning the support and respect of others, just as the women in my life taught me. So as we celebrate women around the world, investing in their futures and invariably in our own, we need to remember that that 'future' is actually now, and it won't be up to them to be the change we need to see. . . I am still decoding and changing the things in me or that I am a part of that have made a woman's path difficult and that journey is for #life. I am not excused nor do I want to be, but my hope is that as #men, brothers and peers we help each other be what we know we can be. So while we go on our own journeys we can always remember one supremely valuable thing... we wouldn't be s**t without women in this world!
