I was very sorry to hear of the passing of my old friend Nigel Frydman, who died last week aged 64 after a long illness. He was the bass player in the Red Stars, my backing band in the early Nineties. I was hoping to see him earlier this year when I went to play in Ardfern, the coastal village in Argyll and Bute where he has lived for the past decade or so, but sadly he'd been hospitalised a few days before, so we were unable to get together.
He was a real asset to the band, solid in his playing and easy to get along with. Since moving to Scotland he had been teaching, passing his musical skills onto a new generation. A celebration of his life is being held at Craignish Village Hall, Ardfern, Lochgilphead PA31 8QN on 28th November at 4.30pm. The community are coming together to provide accomodation to people who wish to make the journey to the west coast.
He recently married Anna, his partner of 28 years. My thoughts are with her and their son Beri and the rest of Nigel's family and friends.
Find a the clip of Nigel playing with the band in Australia in 1992 via the link in my bio.
