The ‘Tree of Ténéré’ was a solitary acacia that was once known as the most isolated, loneliest tree in the world. The only tree in over 150 km became a landmark on caravan routes through the Ténére region of the Sahara Desert in northeast Niger. The tree was a symbol for life and finding a way to flourish in the most difficult environments. Unfortunately, a drunk driver drove into the tree and destroyed it.
With a team of tech visionaries from New York and San Fransisco, we brought the Tree of Ténéré “back to life” in the desert of Black Rock City at Burning Man 2017.
