We are thrilled to announce a major acquisition by Tate Modern: elements of Nikhil Chopra’s ‘Drawing a Line Through Landscape’. The work comprises a group of two drawings, video, costumes, and props from his epic 2017 performance at documenta14. Aspects of the performance were exhibited at SFMoMA in 2019, and we are excited that its permanent home will allow new audiences in the UK to engage with this powerful work. Support for ‘Drawing a Line Through Landscape’ came from Chatterjee & Lal, Galleria Continua, the Piramal Foundation, and Documenta. At Documenta, it was Natasha Ginwala and Michelangelo Corsaro who brought the project to life. Nikhil’s collaborators were an extraordinary team of people from across disciplines: Performance and research: Madhavi Gore and Jana Prepeluh Costumes for Nikhil: Loise Braganza Set design: Aradhana Seth Photography: Shivani Gupta On site production: Stephen Frick Project assistant: Shaira Sequeira Shetty Songs for Nikhil: composed by Ranjit Arapurakal and lyrics by Gautam Sharma Films: Director of cinematography, Sophie Winquist Loggins; Editor, Nike Redding #NikhilChopra Drawing A Line Through Landscape from Documenta14 Museum acquisition at @tate. @nikhil.chopra.artist @chatterjeeandlal @documenta14 @piramalfoundation #nikhilchopra #documenta14 #drawingalinethroughlandscape #chatterjeeandlal #galleriacontinua #tatemodern #tate
