Society has evolved its vocabulary regarding gender identity. I’m still the same queer I’ve been since a child. Only difference, I now have the right descriptions to express my truth. My creative non-binary journey officially started in 2008 when I created #frankiedouglasstyle as an artistic expression of my gender fluidity. Mixing the gender non conforming dance style of Waacking with more masculine styles of HipHop, dancehall, African and the more femme House. I performed this dance style with a pack of Tomboys called, #junglejills (miss y’all hoes) When we rocked together we all had masculine names. Mine being Frankie Douglas.
