#HarlemPostcards is an ongoing Studio Museum project that invites contemporary artists of diverse backgrounds to reflect on Harlem as a site of cultural activity, political vitality, visual stimuli, artistic contemplation and creative production. Representing intimate and dynamic perspectives of Harlem, the images reflect the idiosyncratic visions of contemporary artists from a wide range of backgrounds and locations⠀
⠀
This month’s Harlem Postcard is by Expanding the Walls 2022 participant Omar Lashin. Lashin set out to capture the "bustling, hardworking, and rambunctious" nature of Harlem's neighborhood, photographing the M Lugo Flat Fix Tire Shop on 255 East 125th Street that he would pass on his regular commute from the Bronx to Harlem. "It's an honor to photograph a business that contributes to the community of Harlem, embodying the themes of hard work and hustle that are so important to the neighborhood," he explains. ⠀
⠀
What would you photograph in your Harlem postcard?⠀
