Froth levels to get out in the BC are high, been a while since we’ve had snow in the Eastern Sierra. So thought it was prudent to share what we found touring around the crest yesterday afternoon. HIGHLY sensitive wind slab. After digging a number of pits with suspect results we decided to stand down and hang close to the trees on our descent from Red Cone ridge. This was about an 8” crown with enough snow to easily drag someone somewhere they wouldn’t want to be. In the trees below this spot just about any feature with a steepness over 28 degrees slid. Hopefully this new snow heals quickly.
