'My Village' by @subodhguptastudio is open at Galleria Continua / Les Moulins! Titled 'My Village', the exhibition can be defined through shared memory, tainted with nostalgia, that evokes the hopes and struggles that have had an effect on the history of India, the artist’s home country. As well as the frequent formal and symbolic references drawn from the Indian tradition, the starting point of this exhibition is an investigation into the education received by Gupta, which recounts the socio-economic, political and ecologic context in which he grew up. By sharing his personal history, the artist intimately questions the audience. To enter into contact with his works is to be sent back to the dynamics and images of our education, to what defines the individual’s identity. The artist asks the audience to reflect on the memory of our first meal eaten, and how this has impacted our social environment.
