Tell me about your fabulous dream. ⠀ She said, “well, I would like to tour with so-and-so band.” ⠀ I said, “is that your FABULOUS dream?”⠀ ⠀ Then she told me her ACTUAL dream band. The one that seemed scary to dream about. ⠀ I said, “we can do that. Remember when our dream used to be to sign a major record label deal? We didn’t know how or when it would happen, but eventually it happened. Remember that?” ⠀ She said she remembered. ⠀ Once my fabulous dream comes true, that doesn’t mean I stop dreaming and I’m done. ⠀ It means it’s time to dream a new dream. ⠀ So we are going to make a rock record with the smashing drums and the screaming guitars so there can be the jumping around on stage. And who knows, maybe even a crowd surfer or two. ⠀ We will make the kind of music perfect for the opening act for my sister’s dream band. I’m not going to tell you who it is. It’s a surprise, and you will know once we are on tour with them. ⠀ Sometimes people ask me for advice on how to “make it” in the music industry. And I always say the same thing. It’s really quite simple: ⠀ Make the best thing you can, and don’t give up.
