Today, we remember the passing of Marcus Mosiah Garvey Sr. ONH, Jamaica's first National Hero and founder of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA). Marcus Garvey was born in St. Ann's Bay in 1887 and passed away today, June 10th, 1940 at age 52 in the United Kingdom. His teaching inspired and influenced on movements like Rastafari, the Nation of Islam, and the Black Power Movement.
