As someone with oily skin I personally prefer a “matte” finish or “semi-matte” finish.⁣ ⁣ 💄Track where you’re breaking out⁣ Is your acne evenly dispersed or more concentrated in one particular area like beforehand? If it’s evenly dispersed it could possibly be due to a foundation that you are applying all over your face versus if it’s primarily on your cheeks you may want to consider your brush or bronzer as the culprit. Though this doesn’t fall in the makeup category, if you notice more acne around your hairline it could be from your hair care products.⁣ ⁣ 💄Let your skin breathe⁣ Taking a break from wearing makeup can definitely do wonders for your skin especially if it’s acne prone. You can always opt for a tinted moisturizer or sunscreen.⁣ ⁣ 💄Avoid products that are occlusive⁣ Certain ingredients lay a heavy surface on top of your skin rather than being absorbed into your skin. Some of these include phthalates, paraffin wax, or mineral oil. These ingredients can settle into your pores, clog them up, which doesn’t allow for your sebum to exit the surface, and further leads to the development of acne.⁣ ⁣ 💄Avoid alcohol or drying products⁣ Trying to “dry out” your skin or a pimple can actually lead to dehydration and minimize your skin going through its natural exfoliation process. ⁣ ⁣ 💄Look for SPF makeup with zinc oxide or titanium dioxide ⁣ I always endorse putting on a sunscreen first.
