In a correspondence shared with me, Jeff was confronted about the usage of my work by someone else last year. These were some of his replies in regards to using the model’s likeness, translations provided by kind volunteers from Luxembourg. To be very clear, a person photographed in a photoshoot does not automatically lose the right to their likeness the moment their images are released to the public, nor does the person who owns the copyright automatically lose copyright to their work by sharing it with the public. As for the comment about the model— "I didn’t represent this woman from Japan (or wherever she’s from), *but an allegory of a European femme fatale". So he ripped off a female Asian artist’s work featuring an Asian model and somehow that’s some sort of allegory of European femme fatale? Can someone explain this to me so I can understand? I saw in the news from @lessentiel.lu with Google translate, that he’s still defending his need of "references to transcribe the world around [him]". That he did this work as part of his studies. The painting is still showing at the exhibition as of today according to a Twitter commenter. It’s selling for €6,500. In the article it shows he now has a lawyer, a famous and expensive one from what I’m told, and he said he "can’t stand an exceptional talent be persecuted for nonsense", and "those who accuse him are mistaken". People have spotted more of his work where he appropriated other people’s work so this isn’t a one time thing. I’m currently buried under a mountain of messages so I might have missed a lot of things, trying to read them all at the very least if I can’t reply. Your support and offer of help are all appreciated. I’m honestly so overwhelmed I can’t do this alone. Might need some recommendation for legal advice in Luxembourg too. Thank you all who’ve helped share to ask for help with this issue. I really appreciate it.
