HAY HOUSE AUTHORS INCOMING. . Five years ago to the day, I attended my first Hay House conference. It was called I Can Do It. A two day session to remind ourselves that anything is possible. . The day before, this I had a very random conversation with a dear friend about a lady called @anitamoorjani my friend asked if I was familiar with her work and I replied no. . As we readied ourselves for the conference I looked at the itinerary and saw that Anita Moorjani was the first speaker of the day, Neelam reminded me that she had shared Anitas work with me when I began Chemo but it didn't hit my radar. Her book is now my survival guide. . That weekend, at the end of the conference, I told Neelam that one day, I would take to that stage, that one day, that my story would become someone else's survival guide, that this tale and it's life lessons would become a Hay House best seller. . For three years in a row I applied to join the Hayhouse Diverse Wisdom project, each time, I was rejected, but this year, this year it is my turn and I have been awarded a mentorship with this publishing house that has been on my vision board for years. . The purpose of the post? First and foremost, failure is a part of success, and rejction only makes our drive for what we want, what we truly deeply want all the more stronger. As my old school teacher used to say, 'If at first you don't suceed, try try again.' . Secondly, authors of colour are do lacking in this space, its time we step forward, its time to rise my friends. . And finally, trust in the timing of your life. In the years of rejection I experienced Motherhood for the first time, I learnt and became a Mother through Egg donation, I learnt to juggle life and her ebbs and flows until I arrived at this one, the one where my own Mother had passed giving way to a level of freedom and vulnerability in my writing that I have never known before. . Working alongside an established @hayhouseuk author and my brilliant teacher @jessica_huie_ I have finally put pen to paper and started on this journey that so many of you have often asked me about time and te again. .
