"Harri I" es la primera obra de una serie de ocho esculturas que realizó Eduardo Chillida durante la década de los 90. Harri (piedra en euskera) es el nombre de la serie, el cual rinde homenaje al pueblo vasco. La pieza de granito posee una presencia poderosa, tosca, antigua y contemporánea a la vez. En ella, Chillida explora los conceptos de pesadez y ligereza, por un lado el peso y la dureza de la piedra y por otro, los espacios que en ella talla dos piezas levitando una sobre la otra. La materialidad se hace presente en Harri I de una forma evidente, como así lo hará en el resto de piezas de la serie. - “Harri I” Eduardo Chillidak 90eko hamarkadan egindako zortzi eskulturaz osatutako talde baten lehen lana da.“Harri” da talde honen izena, Euskal Herriaren omenez. Bertan, Chillidak, pisuaren eta arintasunaren kontzeptuak aztertzen ditu, harriaren pisua eta gogortasunean ardaztuz alde batetik, eta bestetik, bata bestearen gainean lebitatzen dituzten bi piezen arteko espazioa landuz.Materialtasuna modu nabarian agertzen da “Harri I”ean, serieko gainerako piezetan bezala. - "Harri I" [Stone I] is the first work in a series of eight sculptures made by Eduardo Chillida during the 1990s. Harri (stone in Basque) is the name of the series, which pays homage to the Basque people. The granite piece has a powerful presence, rough, ancient and contemporary at the same time. In it, Chillida explores the concepts of heaviness and lightness, on the one hand the weight and hardness of the stone and on the other, the spaces carved in it by two pieces levitating one above the other.
