This work Newscloud 8/2/2015 oil on canvas is part of a painting series I made of blue skies and clouds based on photographs I took in 2015 . Almost hidden below the image is a quote from a news headline from the day the picture was taken. The headlines vary in subject, this one is “Eddie Redmayne - The theory of everything”. The headlines are there as reminder of and almost a contrast to the constant presence of clouds in the sky .Within the painting is the juxtaposition of human timescales vs the timescale of nature. Clouds are almost the ultimate sculptural form given to us by nature, forming and reforming continuously, their presence both ordinary and extraordinary.
