Fashion designer Marta Ferri wearing a dress of her own design inside Palazzo Borromeo's internal courtyard in Milan's historic centre. The palace was built for her husband's ancestors in the 13th century and despite being damaged during WWII, many of the architecture features and original frescoes, like those seen here, were saved. ⁠ ⁠ With a late Gothic window frame on her left, the Borromeo's family motto above, and swathed in cloth woven with an ancient motif, Marta appears very much a modern woman at ease with history and tradition.⁠ ⁠ I took this photograph for my book, 'A Room of Her Own: Inside the Homes & Lives of Creative Women'.
