A trove of 2,000-year-old land drawings has been newly-discovered in Peru.
168 geoglyphs (lines or motifs etched into the ground) were discovered in the desert, 250 miles south of Lima by Japanese researchers. They are the work of the ancient Nazca civilisation.
The scientists from Yagamata University discovered the collection through two years of drone photography and artificial intelligence. Now both scientists and historians alike are asking themselves: what were they created for?
