It’s bigger than you-the work you do now will alter perspectives, spark creativity, supply knowledge and impact those beyond yourself and beyond your community. This past July, @jumpman23 and @leaguextwentytwo invited me, along with my Chicago and LA collective sisters @sierrahooper3 @najablu , to service over 100 girls from the beautiful city of Chicago, ranging from middle school to high school seniors. The hope was to celebrate not only WNBA All-Star weekend but WOMEN and we did just that. Ana and I took charge of the “Skills Competition” hoping to add some friendly competition to the day. Our goal was to not only push each girl to complete the challenge but encourage sportsmanship and positive attitudes even when a task is harder than expected. Jordan brands goal with this years collective is to bring equity in women’s spaces, by showing the value we hold within them and how that value goes beyond our own spaces. REPRESENTATION MATTERS! Without it how can we envision ourselves in roles we couldn’t imagine. By demonstrating to young women how we dominate in our respective paths, we can only hope that we are instilling some the confidence needed to take a first step towards their goals. Beyond grateful to the @jumpman23 family and @leaguextwentytwo to giving me the opportunity to be involved in this activation.
