I STAND WITH THE 31. . Every day in the UK 31 women die from metastatic breast cancer. . Metastatic or Stage 4 Breast cancer occurs when Breast Cancer finds a way to escape the breast and sets up home in other parts of the body such as the brain, bones, liver etc. . Once Breast Cancer hits stage 4, it becomes insurable and treatment at that stage is to prolong life as much as possible. . I always feel immensley grateful to have been caught at Stage 3, but my reality is that this only happened due to my own persistence, my GP didn't want to refer me and asked that I wait a few months before further investigation, those few months could have cost me my life. . Too many people think that breast cancer is pink and fluffy, too many people think that it is a nice cancer, a kind cancer. Reality check, there is NO nice cancer. . Over the past decade I have lost a huge about of friend due to stage 4 cancer. It's impact and loss is huge. . Only a fraction of funding for Breast Cancer is channelled toward secondary breast cancer, a number that has to change. . Regardless of a persons cancer staging, each and every one of us deserve the level of care, support and research required to live a long, happy and vibrant life. . So today, in support of the women and men who have left my lofe because of this disease. I stand up for them. .
