PRIDE IS A PROTEST and the act of loving and being authentically yourself is totally radical. Thank you @voguemagazine and the amazing @sarahjanespellings for respecting and celebrating mine and many other stories with this series. For many years I carried the burden of having to out myself over and over again to anyone I met and to create from a place that was a false version of myself. It made me feel secretive, defensive, and disconnected from everything- my relationships, my work, myself. When I truly embraced not only my queerness, but my absolute love for the complexities, intimacies, knowledge, and inspiration of the queer community I felt like my shadow self rejoined my body. I felt one with my body and spirit and like my life and journey got to finally begin the way it does for most at adolescence. To quote @cynthiaenixon “I’ve been straight, and I’ve been Gay.
