September is Suicide Prevention Month. Suicide is the second leading cause of death among young people, and guns are used in more than half of all suicide deaths. This epidemic must be reversed. To support young people who are struggling, and those affected, we are advocating for the ‘Preventing Suicide Through Voluntary Firearm Purchase Delay Act’. This bill allows people to voluntarily enroll themselves on a “do not sell” list, which prevents them from accessing a gun later if they have the intention of harming themselves if they are experiencing a mental health emergency.
