Something I’ve been playing with lately in the gym is changing how I count my reps. I noticed I tend to set the bar down on certain numbers (multiples of 5, numbers that end in 0, even numbers, multiples of 3, lucky numbers...there is always a good reason to set the bar down 😂). So instead of counting my reps normally (1, 2, 3 etc) I count this way: “1, 1, 1.” It is striking how helpful this is for higher rep lifting by helping me bring a “fresh mind” to each rep. Try it out next time you’re lifting and see if you find it helpful. Just make sure you have a partner count your actual reps so you can know how many you hit at the end of the set 😉
