Last weekend at dekmantel felt like a dream, especially after having my parents with me on stage. In 1999, we came to the Netherlands as conservative Christians. Growing up as a first generation Syrian-Dutch kid and having to come out as gay to my family was quite a struggle. Luckily, time heals a lot of wounds. It moved me deeply to see my parents dance right next to my partner after all these years of fighting about our differences. For the first time in my life, I’ve felt accepted for who I am and what I want to do. 💜 Thank you for dancing with me during this special moment 🏳️‍🌈 The recording of my set at Mainstage Dekmantel is now up in the clouds for playback ✨
