“The place in which I'll fit will not exist until I make it.” — James Baldwin I am still floating from the overflow of love, brilliance, and Black Boy Joy from the Native Son Awards. It is truly humbling to have a dream of creating a space for Black gay/queer men to inspire and empower each other. I’m so grateful to live on purpose and to work tirelessly and joyfully to manifest that dream into the reality that is Native Son. It’s been seven years and look at the beautiful and brilliant movement, community, and platform that continues to grow. Building community is important especially now. Native Son exists at the intersection of our Blackness and our Queerness and has become a intervention for Black gay/queer men but also for the intersections of the Black community whom we call family, home, and love.
