#OnThisDay: On Aug 24, 2010 then Mayor Bloomberg announced the opening of the first 2,000 feet of the Greenway at #BrooklynBridgePark! The scenic bikeway and walkway through the Park and along the #EastRiver shoreline opened its first section between Pier 1 at Old Fulton Street and the entrance to Pier 2. Today the Greenway stretches from the Pier 1 Entrance to Pier 6 at Atlantic Avenue, and serves as a piece of the greater #BrooklynGreenway. 📷: @fotoahoy *When biking or walking along the Greenway be sure to stay in your designated lane (pedestrians on the water side (westside), bikes on the land side (eastside), be cautious crossing the bike lane, always yield to pedestrians, and motorized scooters are prohibited.
