We lost an incredible gift of a man today. RIP Stephen TWITCH Boss. Absolutely heartbreaking. My everything goes to his beautiful family left in the wake of this tragedy. I had the pleasure of filming a movie with Stephen years ago. He was always so positive and filled with infectious joy. He was hungry to learn new things and challenge himself. And damn this man could move his body in the coolest ways. Ways only few humans are capable of. Such a talent. In EVERY interaction with him, he was such a gentle soul. I haven’t spoken Twitch in a year or two, excect for some comments and shout outs on instagram, highlighting how awesome he was to me. This news was a shock to hear. You just never know what’s going on inside of someone’s head and heart unless you take the time to create the space to vulnerably connect with one another. As I turn 40 myself, I’m certain now more than ever, men need a place to express their love and pain. We desperately need a place to hear why we matter to one another. What we represent to each other and as men, we need a safe place to look into each others eyes a share these things. It can be uncomfortable and intense, and we can push away the vulnerability with laughter, jokes, and ego, but the truth is we all want and need to be seen and heard. We’re tricky creatures and have a lot of history we’re working against as men, a lot of emotional layers to break through, so the proper conditions have to be set for us men to enter into such states of openness and vulnerability, and it’s our responsibility to create a program of sorts that does just that. Without it we will suffer silently, we will put on a happy face and not know how to get out of the dark places we may find ourselves trapped.
