Reels feel pretty broken lately. I mean this whole app just seems whack as of late but constantly trying to work with the algo/trends to see if their is correlation is tiring and slightly rewarding when it does work. But I think that’s the issue and what I’m hearing from a lot of other creatives - there doesn’t seem to be correlation other than it being a slot machine of which post will work. On a work level for my clients it’s fine because I understand it’s a numbers game but for my personal account it def hurts the ego a little to see none of my friends/audience engage with it. Or better yet the clip I barely spent a minute editing is the one that does take off and I don’t even care for it much 🤪. Generally my response is well pick yourself up and post more but I’ve been noticing I just don’t want to post... I’ll fully admit the algo has made me not want to share my work in fear of it being “rejected”... which really bums me out on multiple levels but a big part is because I worked hard to earn my audience that now is non-existent simply because @meta wants me to spend money to have my audience actually see my work...
This isn’t by accident and I believe Meta is fully aware that their doping us with a 95/5 fail success rate - having us chase that high of success and thus creating more. I mean I know creatives are being paid to post and are still not wanting to due to how bad this algo is right now. The current reel cycle just feels overwhelming when you’re creating for multiple clients and it’s success seems to be dependent only on the song choice that is trending that 72hrs... Im hoping something changes in the next few months but 🤷🏾♂️
