!!️📢GOOD NEWS ON ROSEBANK!! DECISION DELAYED ✅✅ Yesterday, we welcomed the announcement that the UK government’s environmental regulator for oil and gas (OPRED) has written to @equinor raising further questions and concerns about a number of claims it has made about the environmental and climate impacts of the Rosebank oil field. This means that a decision on Rosebank has been delayed. THAT’S A WIN! ✅ It also means that we have more time to push back against an approval and to #StopRosebank once and for all. This delay really is a moment to celebrate. It is evidence of the impact of strategic campaigning and public pressure from across the Stop Cambo network and wider climate justice movement. So far, we have delayed the decision. I truly have no doubt that next, we will #StopRosebank for good. Some more good news: OPRED's questions to Equinor reflect a number of the specific concerns raised in the submission provided to the regulator by Uplift on behalf of Stop Cambo network partners. Let's all take a breath out. We now know that Rosebank will not imminently be approved. This is definitely a step in the right direction for the campaign. We will win. I call on @grantshapps and the UK government to reject Rosebank. They have heard the warnings just as we have that we cannot have any new oil and gas to avoid the worst of climate breakdown. Continuing to ignore these warnings is, frankly, putting all life on earth at risk. The UK public say NO to Rosebank, NO to the West Cumbria coal mine which was approved just last week, and NO to putting fossil fuel profits before life, before the UK public who have been dragged into poverty by this fossil fuel crisis. We won’t accept it anymore. I want to send a huge thank you to everyone who has supported the campaign to #StopRosebank so far.
