A tribute to a friend, Doris Palca, inspired by a recent visit. Doris founded the Whitney Museum's publications department back in the day. Now in her 100th year, she's still producing beautiful illustrated books, lately a volume on William Glackens. Her pace of reading leaves me in the dust (above just a fraction of the homework she's given me). Not long ago she shared Philip Larkin's poem Aubade, which hit home. I had to look up what "aubade" meant, but she didn't.
