In 1834 slaves were freed in Bermuda. For 111 years thereafter Black Bermudians called out of work to celebrate their emancipation, which eventually lead to the two-day holiday now known as CUP MATCH. The first day, Emancipation Day, commemorates the emancipation of the enslaved, and marks the end of the legal slave trade in Bermuda. Day two, was declared Mary Prince Day in 2020, and was named after a once enslaved Bermudian who became a heroine of the abolitionist movement in Britain. It was a honor to partner with @bermuda to document two of their most historic events. We experienced a rich culture, beautiful people and warm hospitality. Welcome to Bermuda, an experience like no other. #gotobermuda Directed by @dapperlou DP @themoonthief Editor @ceojay___
