Growing up in Lebanon, as I witnessed my country constantly living on the edge of chaos and peril, I started to worry about our memories dying. That is why I became a journalist. To tell and protect those stories... 🥀
Today, #Lebanon is changing like never before. It is a country painfully giving birth to another, one we still can’t define. At such turning points in history, what happens to our memories? Where are those stories safe? 🥀
I’m very moved to have written this personal essay for this week-end’s issue of The Financial Times / How To Spend It @ft_howtospendit @financialtimes @ft_weekend in which I try to describe this very curious nostalgia us Lebanese feel, the one of longing for a time we never knew. The desire to safeguard something fleeting... 🥀

Wherever I am, I will never stop writing about Lebanon. It’s my only weapon and I will use it until my last breath. 🇱🇧✊🏻❤️
