European Bronze medallist 😭 For the whole competition, I was in 4th place with my 6.69m from round 1. I was running badly, landing badly or fouling for rounds 2-5. I stood on the runway for my last attempt in round 6 and thought “you have to f***ing run. You canNOT leave here without a medal”. I asked the crowd for help and they gave it with enthusiasm like I was their own. The run and the jump are a blur. I got out of the pit frantic - I knew the jump was far but wasn’t sure if I was valid. I started asking the volunteers, the people in the front few rows of the crowd, anyone who was near me “WAS IT A FOUL? WAS I ON THE BOARD?” Either nobody could hear or I couldn’t hear them, because I had to wait for the green light. After the longest few seconds I may have ever experienced, it appeared, and I held my breath while we waited for the distance. 6.80m flashed up. Enough for 3rd place. Then this photo was taken. It’s been a long 6 years off the international podium, but last night, I fought my way back on 🥉
