This audio is exactly what I’ve been trying to show with my account. Via• @lucys_hillside_house To show how you don’t have to have a huge amount of money to be able to create a home that you love to live in. We have what I would describe as quite an average home. It has what we need and we’ve decorated it to suit our tastes as well as the house. I have had many comments over the years about how nothing in my house matches and that’s ok - I wouldn’t want everything to match. Most of my furniture is either from various auctions, trade shows, Facebook market place etc as it is so difficult to furnish a whole house when you have put all of your money into buying the house in the first place. A lot of our furniture was free as I wasn’t picky, needed things and knew that I could always upcycle! A lot of the picture perfect homes you see on social media are the result of years, even decades of hard work, savings, remortgaging etc. It can be difficult not to compare yourself to them but you really can’t as you don’t know what’s gone on behind the scenes, how long it’s taken or when - which given how everything is ridiculously expensive right now (speaking from the current UK property market perspective) timing is a big factor.
